Club Open For Heineken Cup Final

The clubhouse and bar will be open for the Heineken Cup Final on Saturday.  We’ll be open from about 4.15 with kick off at 5.00pm.

Your club needs you!!

Hi to all playing and non-playing members. You may or may not know that I am running for 1st Team skipper this season. The final vote on this and other positions will be cast at the AGM which takes place on Wednesday 11th June, 7.30pm start. With the way the new season is shaping up there is an excellent, solid platform on which not only the 1st Team but the whole club can build and move forward. The opportunities are there to have an enjoyable, successful season both on and off the pitch and it is just a matter of us taking responsibility individually and collectively to make the most of them.

The first chance we have to do this is at the AGM where we all have a part to play in deciding on matters which affect us all. Please make your greatest efforts to get down to the club on the 11th, cast your votes and (no doubt) have a couple of beers afterwards. Please also pass on this message to your fellow players and club members.

I would be honoured to become 1st team skipper for our friendly, community-based, ambitious club and I’m sure my team-mates who are also running for the job feel the same. If anyone wants to ask me about my ideas for the season just drop me a line or give me a call anytime (within reason!). Please give the club your support at the AGM, and thereafter, and lets have a year to remember!
Thanks, Mossy

Summer Tag Rugby

A reminder that summer tag rugby starts tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7.00pm.  Tag rugby will be open to anyone over 14 regardless of ability; if numbers are good enough we can hopefully get two games going, allowing everyone to enjoy a game at the right level.  It’s also a great way to introduce some new people to the club so take the opportunity to invite someone along with you.  The bar will be open afterwards and the changing rooms/showers will be available also.

Armsby And Dodson Scoop Under 17 Awards

Last night’s end of season presentation saw Dan Dodson and Chris Armsby scoop the awards for the U17 squad. Dan’s contribution to the squad received the ultimate recognition as he deservedly won the Players’ Player Award for 2008. Dan has been a consistently strong and dedicated member of the squad and the award reflects the great honesty he shows on and off the pitch.

The Coaches’ Award for 2008 was presented to Chris Armsby. The coaches had elected to present this based on attitude to training and playing, willingness to learn and positive overall impact on squad. This was just recognition for Chris after his first season at Ripon rugby club.
