What can you say to a score line like that? Ripon 2nd’s again came out of the changing room’s fired up for the game under their temp skipper Scot McAra who showed grate leadership skills. Johnny (BRAVO) Whinspeer had the game of his short rugby life so far scoring two fantastic tries in the first half. One of which he ran three quarters of the field to score. Dirk Von Dike jinked his way through to get the third score (first so far for him this season) I’m sure there are many more to come. We saw some fantastic open play from the Ripon pack recycling the ball at every opportunity. Due to the new 2nd row combination of Lafarge and Cheesman. And the 9/10 partnership was working well which saw the backs really dominate throughout the game. The second half continued as well as the first half with some tactical substitutes by the way of Sadler coming on to strengthen the front row as we were losing a lot of ball against the head. Also Mathews on the left wing providing two tries straight away. We sorted out the line-outs by changing to a four man and Johnny dominated in the air winning everything. Cleckheaton had absorbed everything we had to throw at them and started to make a gallant fight back in the last ten minutes, That was until McAra made a dashing run down the right wing beating the winger and standing the full back up, A lovely pop to Bob Whiticker on the inside saw him complete a great points scoring game racking up a massive 18 points 1 try 5 conversions and 1 penalty another good solid game from Bob. Well done guy’s same again next week Dinnington away (bus ordered)

All backs are invited to come along on Wednesday night to take part in the coaching evening which is now exclusive to Ripon Rugby Club. We require a minimum of 12 backs to take part but more are welcome. You are also welcome to come along and observe if injured. It is a great opportunity to get some coaching from a senior RFU coach. Contact Mick Hamill for details.

Well where do i start, 2 out of 3 and growing in confidence, ok last week was a slight hiccup but came back this week knowing we had to dominate from the start, but after being 5 nil down in the first
5 mins, i thought this is going to be a long game.So once we got our first points on the board everyone started to work together and communicate, we finally sussed out there backline and then controlled the game, with tactiful kicking and sticking to the game plan we found ourselves scoring trys and collecting penaltys and knotts had no reply, so once again great win lads and lets keep it going throughout this long and enduring season.
