Under 11 Yorkshire Cup Semi Final

Sunday saw the visit of Harrogate to play the Yorkshire Cup semi final and in a close match it was the visitors who went away with the spoils. As in all the previous matches between these two teams it was another hard faught game with both sides playing good rugby throughout the match. Report below. (more…)

Under 11 Development squad V York Development squad

With Yorkshire Cup semi final matches looming for both sides it was the development squads turn take the field for a full match and stake their case for inclusion in the cup squad. Undaunted by facing up to a physically bigger squad Ripon showed just what depth we have at this age level and put in a superb performance. Match report below. (more…)

Training - week commencing 21 January 2008

All junior training for this week has been cancelled due to the condition of the pitches and the heavy rain. U17’s to meet at 7.00pm for an indoor session on Tuesday.  U15’s to train on Wednesday at the club please bring tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

A decision on senior training will be taken this evening (Monday) and details posted.

Pitches For Sunday 20th

There will be no junior training or games at the club tomorrow due to the waterlogged pitches.  The 1st team pitch has been passed for the Under 17 league game against Sandal at 12.30.  This will be the only rugby at Mallorie Park tomorrow.

All junior teams can train instead at the army pitches on Clotherholme Road.

No Junior Training This Week

There will be no junior training this week due to the poor state of the training pitch.  This applies to ALL junior sides without exception!

Training Is OFF Tonight

Pitches at Mallorie Park are waterlogged so there will no training tonight. A decision will be made later about the potential cancellation of ALL junior training this week as the pitches were already in a poor state following last Thursday night’s training. The senior squad will have priority should the training pitch be available later in the week.

The Development Squad will meet indoors as planned in the new extension at 7.00 pm to discuss individual player development plans.

Under 11 Yorkshire Cup semi-final draw

The draw has been made today and at last we have a home fixture…against…Harrogate!!

Match to be played on Sunday 03 Feb 2008 so lets have a good crowd down to cheer the squad all the way to the final

Under 11 Yorkshire Cup 2nd Round

Once again Ripon under 11’s come through a very difficult tie against a strong Ilkley side to continue into the semi-final of the Yorkshire Cup. In a fantastic match dominated by two excellant defensive displays Ripon go through due to a 0-0 draw and being the away team. Match report below: (more…)

U13’s Maintain Unbeaten Run With Cup Victory

Ripon R U F C’s under 13’s continued their unbeaten season with a win of 29-17 over Selby in the second round of the Yorkshire cup on Sunday the 6th January 2008.

Ripon get off to the best possible start by gathering their opening kick of the day, the ball was moved down the backs to Glen May who scored under the posts.Guy Watkinson added the conversion. Selby equalised four minutes later from a penalty forty meters out scoring under the posts from a very strong unstoppable run.

Ripon then took the lead again five minutes later when captain Scott Christy scored in the corner coming from good support play from Ripon. By half time however Selby had deservedly scored again after turning over a maul. (more…)

Under 11’s make their mark in the Yorkshire Cup

The Under 11’s finally made their long awaited debut in the Yorkshire Cup, and what a debut it was, travelling to Sheffield RUFC they handed the home team a 0-40 defeat to see them progress to the second round. A fantastic display by the whole squad, including all the players who didn’t make the 17 man squad but still travelled to support their team. Match report below: (more…)
