Training
Published by Lawrence on July 2nd, 2008 in Development XV, 4th XV, Hornblowers XV, 1st XV, General
With six session now under our belts I am sure that those attending are enjoying it and feeling fitter already. For those not attending perhaps you should take a look, as rest assured you are now playing catch up. Only twelve sessions to the first pre season game. Come on down don’t let those putting in the hard yards down.
We are averaging over 30 players per session with other players letting us know when they are unavailable and if they all turned up we would have 40+ players every session. It would be great if that number were 50+. By missing training you are also missing information about forth coming events being organised on the players behalf. Please don’t use cricket as an excuse.

I think if you look at the poll Sads you’ll see that that is not entirely true mate! Exactly Belly, i can’t see anything wrong with a cheap, comfortable pair of summer training boots - they need to step out of the dark-ages eh? I’ll see you Thursday too, missing my first session tonight for the wife’s graduation ceremony - bugger! Have a good session tonight everyone else, I think you’ll enjoy it, games, handling etc…

beaver you going to beg the coaches for the T N T again tonight ?

That’s more like it Bob. Getting a bit bored with the inspirational pre-season training love in, whilst applauding everyone’s undoubted commitment.
A little bit of wit/controversy is always welcome.
Numbers looking good for your lads stag do? -

Dear Mr Ex-cap, as the world economy nose dives into a deep recession it’s comforting to see that I have a soulmate who recognises the need to stamp out unnecessary optimism and positivity. I am looking to recruit similar curmudgeons as ourselves and can be contacted at gordon@optimismisfutile.co.uk.

Cheers Ex Cap, we’ve got good numbers for Al’s do. I trust you’ve had a word with the “Management”?
By the way, has Gordon Brown just bollocked you?
-
wrote
Sorry Andy W, I thought your post was the funniest, unfortunately I was wrong… Gordon Brown has now won the award for the most humorous post on this website. L-O-L.
-
wrote
wats up beaver you did not try begging for the t n t last night !
-

Inspired Mr Brown, truly inspired. I propose we move first on words like ‘awesome’ and ‘terrific’ appearing on this site. I’ll bet there’s even the odd ‘High Five’ going on down at Mallorie Park nowadays.
-
wrote
thanks for your truly positive (????) comments Mr Ex-Cap, why don’t you pay a visit to Mallorie Park on a tuesday and thursday and see what is really going on i think you’d see its not just words!!!
Bob W - you’ve also been conspicuous by your absence, any chance of you putting in an appearance sometime? -

It’s worse than that Doddsy, I overheard a “that’s what I’m talking about” the other day.

I may well be back next week Noz now that midweek cricket has finished. I shouldn’t be too far behind the rest of the lads, have we started contact yet? (huddles, squeezes, high 5s etc). Or are we just talking a good game for now?
-
wrote
My God, next they’ll be ‘feeling the burn’. In all seriousness Nozza it does sound great but I don’t have a hope in hell of committing to training this year which quite rightly rules me out of first team.
I do intend however to stick the boots on every saturday for one team or another. See you down there. ND. -

That’s what I’m talking about Pinkie!

about time you came down thatchers…we’ve been sweating it out all summer while you smash down a couple of pot noodles and watch the bill. Yeah, work it!!!
-
wrote
Words like ‘awesome and terrific’ have been used on the blog just like the bull —- used by those not attending training who choose to make comment. BobW contact will start all to soon and the only ‘high 5’s’ you will see are the ones coming out of your pocket when the fine master strikes!!!
-
wrote
That doest make any sense.at all
-

bully that shows how stupid you are !the fine master is all peeing sorry means seein he sees every thing xxx

200% agree with Stumpy! Keep up the good work fellas!
-
wrote
Yes jokes aside. The commitment is immense this pre-season, as long as its maintained we will have a cracking season with plenty of club bonding sessions after hopefully many victories!
-
wrote
Just the sort of comment that we’re trying to ban Bully.
As for your fines Stumpy, I’ve agreed an initial sum of zero and 12 monthly payments of nothing. -
wrote
Bob you tight sod get training! And you will be fined for all the missed sessions. I work that out at £2 for every session so about £100 so far eh!!
-
wrote
Yes get training Bob
-

Fair point hand slapper!

If by “fair” you mean “weak” Bully. I’ll cough up when I pay my subs.
-

Good banter going on here fellas, but lets not get too out of hand!
-

cracking banter but thatch is rite ! Bob you play nice !
-

A timely rebuke T H. Bob, anything other than relentless positivity and Stumpy will have a nosebleed.

any one seen our capt he must be having to do some work ! ?

He’ll have a nosebleed if he asks me for money again.
Have I gone too far?

I must commend both Ex-cap and BobW for sticking to traditional values and fully embracing a more appropriate climate of doom. Buoyed by my recent success with abolishing the 10p tax rate, I am proposing a moratorium on all further reference to positivity and encouragement. I will shortly issue a white paper outlining a return to more acceptable phrases such as, “I’ve seen it all before”, “we’ve made our traditional slow start to the season” and “he’ll never be a 1st team player as long as I’ve a hole in my….”. I also urge Ex-cap and BobW to return so that they can again demonstrate the Churchillian style leadership that has been the hallmark of their rugby careers.

GB is right fellas! No harm in a bit of harmless bants, etc, but we need to all start walking and pushing in the right direction, hopefully all this pre-season graft will see us changing through the gears ready to accelerate come game time!
GB just for the record thanks for the abolition of the 10p tax rate it’s working out just fine for me! -
wrote
gb is rite when you going to show your face at trainin pat ?

Christ i’ve missed some banter in the last week! Hope to be back fit and at training tomorrow guys, see you there!
-
wrote
Ok ladies, let’s put the hand bags down before somebody breaks a nail!! Agree totally with TH - a bit of banters all good, however there’s a lot of hard graft to be done yet before we even play a game. There will be no apology though for taking a positive approach. If you don’t like it then that’s tough - you’ll need to find somewhere else to dump your negativity.

@”Timmy Mallett”. Provide a real identity and valid e-mail and I’ll happily publish your rant, provided you’re willing to stand over it publicly. (Brendan, Blog Moderator).
-

The phantom blogger sent me a text when he wrote this Brendan, any chance you could put it up and I’ll reveal who it is in 24 hours if he doesn’t own up.
-
wrote
I vote put it up - Especially if young Patrick knows the identity, should be very interesting!

thatch is rite could be intresting ! (Sadles good blog lad when not been on baby sham )
-

I think leave it off until the person in question reveals their identity and confirms they would like for it to be published. Until this happens let’s forget about it because, in my opinion, i don’t think it warrants any more of our time and attention. See you at training!
-
wrote
Come on Mossy get it posted, if I remember rightly at the AGM you said everyone has a right to have their opinion heard.
-
wrote
Hi Bob, thanks for the offer but I’m still waiting for the individual to come forward. I’m fairly sure I know who it it is anyway and they do have a right to be heard, provided they are willing to identify themselves first. I’m not willing to print a rant from someone who is afraid to use their own name. They’ve had more than 48 hours to front up. At this point I think we’ll close the discussion as we’ve got more important things to focus on.

hows the leg after yesterday mr capt ? Cracking trainin session
