ELV’s - Have Your Say
Published by BrendanH on April 28th, 2008 in General
The IRB is currently trialling a number of Experimental Law Variations (ELV’s) in the Super 14 competition. The key law changes being trialled include: most offences being downgraded to to free-kick; allowing the maul to be collapsed; a introduction of a 5 metre offside law at scrum.
The RFU is concerned about the potential imapct on grassroots rugby should the law changes become permanent. Therefore they are asking for views on the changes and their potential impact. You can view the ELV’s and have your say at rfusurvey.co.uk. It takes about 10 minutes to complete online.

Re. Mossy’s post above - I think it’s a case of deja vu all over again hey? Mossy have you been poaching on the WPL site? Or are you there monitoring the less than smart actions of others?

Date: 28-04-2008, 15:29I tell you what, the new laws don’t favour the unfit! I’ve been watching a lot of the Super 14 stuff and the number of tap and go’s going on due to the free-kick rule makes the game faster and gives continuity - but they go and counteract that with the collapsing maul rule; bit of robbing Peter to pay Paul really! Hmmm, interesting…
