U13: Ripon 14 Guisborough 29

Ripon under 13’s hosted Guisbrough on the 3rd March 2008. The game was very well contested but Guisbrough were too strong especially in defence leaving Ripon to lose their second game of the season 14-29.

Ripon started remarkably well after securing the kick off they returned the distance to half way with a clearance kick.The Forwards won possession at the line out and Glen May went over under the posts for his first try of the Game. Guisbrough responded by scoring at the other end seven minutes later under the posts.

Guisbrough then took the lead before half time from a very well worked try after winning a penalty and scoring in the corner after three stages of play the conversion fell short of the posts.

Shortly after half time Ripon went back into the lead after Ripon’s forwards turned over a ruck and May crossed the line again for his second, Guy Watkinson added the two points again from the conversion.

Guisbrough weren’t to be tied down they soon went back in front 14-19 after very poor tackling from Ripon opened the gate for a soft try.Ripon were unlucky not to score again after being awarded four penalty’s on the five meter line crossing the line once but were unable to ground the ball. excellent defence from Guisbrough who managed to clear after five minutes of pressure from Ripon.

Guisbrough then rubbed salt into Ripons wounds by scoring another two tries before the end of the match. The first was their man of the match playing at inside centre scoring his third try of the game.
