From Team Manager, Paul Gill:
Ripon R U F C’s under 13’s hosted York on the 13th January 2008.Ripon were winners by 40-12 but the score certainly didn’t reflect the game as York put up a very gutsy performance throughout the game with exceptional tackling and their forwards had the majority of turn over balls in the rucks and mauls with Ripon hesitating to get in to the action.
York were first to score after being awarded a penalty try.York’s winger would have scored in the corner after chipping the ball forwards if he hadn’t been tackled without the ball. Ripon soon levelled the score five minutes later when Callum Findlay crashed trough York’s defence after receiving a tap penalty under the posts.Glen may scored in the corner soon later after a quick dinking run.Followed by Findlay’s second try from a personal run of three quarters of the pitch.
York proved that they were still in the game after scoring a good try coming from poor handling and defence from Ripon. By this time Ripon were starting to apply more pressure on York which created tries for Peter Marsden, callum Findlay and Ben Nabaro.
Guy Watkinson had a brilliant game especially with the boot in kicking five conversions one of which was only one meter in from the touch line.
Next weeks game is at Harrogate at 9.45 which is the quarter finals of the Yorkshire cup.

Well done the whole U13 squad, another great win. All the best in the 3rd round of the Yorkshire Cup this weekend against Harrogate.
