Redcar 21 Ripon 26
Ripon Under 15’s travelled away to Redcar in the first round of the Yorkshire Cup on Sunday 14th October. The game was fiercely contested with the teams being evenly matched. Ripon conceded their first try in the first 3 minutes, but pulled themselves together to come out winners 26-21.
Good wide play allowed both wingers to score 2 tries each, running the full length of the pitch, Peter Willis converting three of them. A mention should also go to Darren Sidwell (Full back) who along with Joe Rodgers, held up a Redcar try, to keep Ripon in the game.
Although Ripon’s ball handling could have been better, it was an excellent team performance which kept the supporters on tenter hooks right up until the final whistle.
