Dinnington 12 Ripon 0
Dinningtonās merit table game against Ripon ended in bizarre circumstances as the visitors took off their front row in an attempt to force uncontested scrums. However, the referee ruled this to be an infringement of the rules of the competition and, after a long discussion, awarded the game to Dinnington. Dinnington had put in a solid performance up to that point, defending well, and had scored two tries through DAVID LONGSTAFFE, one converted by DAVID WRIGHT, in the opening forty minutes. Ripon had only come close to scoring with a penalty attempt and Dinnington started the second half looking to run up a sizeable advantage. However, they were foiled by Ripon whose seemingly blatant attempt to bend the rules cut no ice with the official.
